Homeless Horns
Elkhart Conn 6D
This rare Conn 6D was produced in 1946 (serial# 362346) and plays very well. The 6D was Conn's top
professional horn in the early 1930s. This model was styled after a Kruspe design, much like the 8D
(introduced in 1938) was a copy of the Kruspe Horner model. This particular horn was produced four
years before Max Pottag helped redesign the 6D, and the double perfels on the female tuning slides
confirm the production date. It feels like an old Geyer, and plays much better than the current
production 6D's. The leadpipe and bell have been replaced, but this hasn't adversely affected the
sound or intonation. $1,800
